Ad Hoc Commander

What is Ad Hoc Commander?
An unofficial modification of the Custom Wars engine which seeks to restore balance and
common sense by reverting to a clean slate and rebuilding a new era of hardcore competitive
strategic gameplay.
The project is still in its beginnings, but this early release already contains tantalising morsels
of the taste of things to come.
SEE the Infantry Fighting Vehicle in action! LAUGH while your opponent's
carefully set artillery clusters and supply convoys fall to high explosive surgical strikes by your elite
special forces infantry! TRIUMPH using tactics and strategies that are new yet somehow familiar.
Ad Hoc Commander is not merely content with adding new units but also tweaks core aspects
of the gameplay itself. Units gain veterancy in combat by defeating enemies. Powers charge using a mechanic
that combines aspects of new and old. Random chance is minimised to the point where we can make the proud
claim that Ad Hoc Commander is a true abstract strategy game.
As always, the best way to learn more is by joining us on the
discussion forums and, of course, by playing the game! It is fun! Join us!

Rebuilding CW!
Small
update. The cw1 code is getting rebuild from scratch by 2 projects. One
is using Slick(a java2D game lib) and is named CW2. The other being
Lasker a browser based game(like awbw but better). Want to help
rebuilding cw? We are looking for programmers, testers, artists you
name it...

State of CW
Just
an update on the state of affairs of Custom Wars. The whole thing is
practically dead. I've updated the games server so that it purges games
if they haven't been touched in two months and rearranged the forum.
There's not much of anything happening anymore but the servers and the
like should be up as long as we have the customwars.com domain name
(read: about a year and a half). That being said there's still a little
bit of stuff happening on the forum. But not too much. Maybe *you*
could be the one to get CW happening in everyone's lives again.
If you need to contact me about CW server and hosting related stuff, send me an email.

Weekend Updatin'
Eh, so I decided not to go with CO pages. If you want that info, it's all on the Wiki. :P
This weekend I'll be working on "CW, the Game" by doing the Screenshots and Download pages.
yeah that's all lol
It actually sounds like a bigger update than you think, you know. :>

New Layout!
All
right! So yeah, I've been slaving away for weeks (read: about 4 days)
working on the new layout for the Custom Wars mainpage. As I stated
before, the initial setup really didn't sit too well as it became
rather frustrating to update on a rather tight schedule. See, CW isn't
one of those games where you can just trickle details to the
player - it's gotta be all out there right in front of them because
that's the kind of awesome that this game contains. You'd agree, too -
if there were over 75 COs to formulate effective strategies against!
Whatever, I'm gonna get back to working on the rest of the new topsite. Feel free to drop by the forums and let us know what you think of the new layout!
On an added note; I'm going to be uploading the rest of the CO pages
over the weekend. I'll upload the rest MAYBE by the hour. :P
